Campaign for Minnewaska Visitor Center Offers Personalized Father's Day Gift Options

Ulster County, NY

(June 4, 2020)— In advance of Father’s Day, the Campaign for the Minnewaska Visitor Center is offering a way to commemorate family hiking excursions and fond memories at Minnewaska State Park Preserve. The fundraising campaign, led by the Open Space Institute (OSI), is offering gift options in the form of personalized window tiles. Each window tile will be on display inside the visitor center and features a personalized inscription paired with a full-color image of an iconic bird that can be found at Minnewaska.

“The Open Space Institute is proud to offer personalized gift options to celebrate birders, outdoor enthusiast, and anyone who loves spending time at Minnewaska. The park is deeply rooted in the community of families and individuals who came together to advocate for the protection of this land almost 30 years ago,” said Kim Elliman, president and CEO of the Open Space Institute. “Those who love the park may want to continue their support and celebrate their time spent there with a personalized window tile, to be seen by all visitors once the center opens later this year.”

The sponsored tiles will be included as part of the “Birds of Minnewaska” window, a prominent exhibit which highlights some of the most popular and colorful birds that can be found at Minnewaska State Park.

The Birds of Minnewaska window tiles are available for sponsorship through OSI’s website: openspaceinstitute.org/minnewaska-birds.

Proceeds from the sponsorship support OSI’s Campaign for Minnewaska Visitor Center, which has raised more than $2.65 million toward a $3 million goal. For more information and to donate to the campaign visit: minnewaskavisitorcenter.org.

Creation of the Minnewaska Visitor Center is a public-private effort with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), with OSI spearheading the private fundraising campaign. Included in OSI’s commitment is the development of the building’s educational and interpretive offerings.
