ALBANY, NY (September 21, 2021)—The Open Space Institute commends Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal to raise the 2022 Environmental Bond Act to $4 billion. This increase represents a clear understanding of what’s at stake for all of us in New York State as, together, we confront the realities of climate change, the need for clean drinking water, and the growing demand for parks and greenspace for all people and for wildlife. We applaud the governor for this strong commitment to confront challenges head on. At a time that calls for bold steps and innovative thinking, Governor Houchul is meeting this moment with true leadership and real, meaningful action.
