OSI's impact in the Southeast was monumental in 2023: adding much-needed parkland to regions starved for green spaces; guarding against future flooding by conserving thousands of acres of forested swamps; protecting water quality and scenic viewsheds by securing miles upon miles of pristine river frontage; and helping save critical habitat for species too numerous to count.
From the South Carolina coastal plain clear across the Appalachian Mountains to Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau, this has been an exceptional year for conservation. In the Southeast this year, OSI saved more than 9,000 acres — an incredible achievement by any measure.
