Western North Carolina stands out for its breathtaking scenery, exceptional biodiversity and rich mountain culture.
Our work in the Tar Heel State helped the state’s land trusts create Chimney Rock State Park—within convenient driving distance from Atlanta, Charlotte and Knoxville—while protecting the origin of 25 headwater streams flowing into the wild trout waters of Roaring Creek.
Since 2005, we’ve made grants and loans totaling $15.8 million, which have helped the state’s conservation groups and agencies protect 8,223 acres of their most important places.
